A 15-story office building in Bethesda, Maryland, was evacuated Thursday evening as a precaution following a gas leak on the street in front of the structure, according to Montgomery County Fire and EMS.
The leak was in front of a building located at 7501 Wisconsin Avenue near East West Highway, . The building will remain unoccupied until the leak is repaired.
Two Northbound lanes of Wisconsin Avenue at Old Georgetown Road were closed while crews worked Thursday night.
The building houses offices and a penthouse. It was evacuated at the request of Washington Gas — who was on the scene, according to Montgomery County Fire and EMS.
Earlier drivers were advised to avoid the area as all Northbound lanes of Wisconsin Avenue at Old Georgetown Road were closed. The westbound lanes of East-West Highway were also blocked at Pearl Street, .
Those closures resulted in some delays, according to ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ Traffic.
