Just months after opening, MECCA Business Learning Institute (MBLI), Montgomery County鈥檚 only public charter school, is facing the revocation of its charter for a number of issues, including violation of special education laws, failure to implement required corrective actions and the release of private student information to the media, according to Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) officials.
On Monday,聽Superintendent Thomas Taylor聽sent聽a letter聽to聽the聽school鈥檚聽leadership聽announcing聽that he is聽recommending聽the county school board聽begin formal proceedings to revoke聽its聽charter, according to MCPS.聽聽is聽currently teaching sixth and seventh graders in Bethesda.
