WASHINGTON 鈥� In an interview with , Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed that actor Tom Cruise will make a return in the follow up to the 1986 megahit 鈥淭op Gun.鈥�
鈥淵eah, of course. 鈥� You don鈥檛 make 鈥楾op Gun鈥� without Tom Cruise,鈥� Bruckheimer told ET on Thursday.
The producer聽had hinted at “Maverick’s” return in a tweet back in January.

鈥淭here is an amazing role for Maverick in the movie and there is no 鈥楾op Gun鈥� without Maverick, and it is going to be Maverick playing Maverick,鈥� producer David Ellison said in an last summer.
Ellison told the sequel will feature the clash of old school aviation versus the world of drones.
There is no word yet on聽if Val Kilmer, aka “Iceman,” will also be on board.
