WASHINGTON — Since “Wonder Woman” hit box offices in 2017, fans have been awaiting the sequel, which jumps ahead in time from World War I to 1984 and follows the story of Diana, powerful warrior princess of the Amazons.
Filming started earlier this week around the District, including Georgetown and parts of Dupont and Wisconsin Avenue. And on Friday, filming started at the famous Watergate Hotel.
The “Wonder Woman 1984” Twitter account posted photos of the movie’s stars, Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, on June 15.

What do we know so far? In some capacity, there are cows involved.

Multiple reporters from The Atlantic have tweeted photos of the filming, including the cows in question, outside of the Watergate.

Whatever the role of the cows, they aren’t the only exciting movie additions surrounding the shoot. Since the movie takes place in the 1980s, vintage-looking police cars were used in the filming.

The movie currently has a release date of Nov. 1, 2019, and filming in the D.C. area will continue at least through July.
