A day after the ‘Blurred Lines’ verdict, are the Gayes mulling another claim?

WASHINGTON 鈥 Marvin Gaye鈥檚 family is feeling pretty happy about Tuesday鈥檚 result in their lawsuit against Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke, and they reportedly might not yet be done staking claims.

A day after a jury awarded the Gayes more than $7 million because of the resemblance between 鈥淏lurred Lines,鈥 the 2013 hit written by Williams and Thicke, and Gaye鈥檚 early 鈥70s classic 鈥淕ot to Give It Up,鈥 that the family is aware of another musical connection.

It鈥檚 been noted online that the groove of Pharrell鈥檚 2014 hit 鈥淗appy鈥 bears a similar 鈥 well, similarity 鈥 to that of Gaye鈥檚 鈥淎in鈥檛 That Peculiar.鈥

On Wednesday, Nona Gaye, the singing icon鈥檚 40-year-old daughter, said that she wasn鈥檛 thinking yet of making any claims: 鈥淲e鈥檙e not in that space.鈥 Gaye鈥檚 ex-wife, Janis Gaye, adds, 鈥淲e鈥檙e just in the moment today and we鈥檙e satisfied.鈥

Still, Nona Gaye said, 鈥淚鈥檓 not going to lie. I do think they sound alike.鈥
