Band Survivor objects to use of ‘Eye of the Tiger’ at Kim Davis rally

WASHINGTON 鈥 In what鈥檚 becoming a familiar pattern, the band behind the song played at Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis鈥 rally Tuesday says they didn鈥檛 give permission for the use of their song 鈥 and they鈥檙e not happy about it.

Davis was released from jail on Tuesday after being held for five days for refusing to issue marriage licenses, citing her religious objection to same-sex marriage. Her emergence onstage at a rally in her honor was underscored by 鈥淓ye of the Tiger,鈥 by the band Survivor.

On the band’s , someone identifying themselves as 鈥渇s鈥 鈥 presumably 鈥淓ye of the Tiger鈥 co-writer Frankie Sullivan 鈥 wrote, 鈥淣O! We did not grant Kim Davis any rights to use鈥 the song.

He went a little farther than that: 鈥淚 would not grant her the rights to use Charmin!鈥

This isn鈥檛 the first time musicians have argued against their songs being used in public and politically charged events without their permission: Just this year, issued such a statement about Donald Trump; Axwell and Ingrosso against Marco Rubio, and Walker, .
