Maryland will hire Michigan’s D.J. Durkin as new head coach

WASHINGTON — Maryland will hire former Michigan defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin to be the school’s next head football coach, ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½â€™s George Wallace confirmed Wednesday afternoon.

Durkin replaces Randy Edsall, fired on Oct. 11, and interim head coach Mike Locksley. The Terrapins went 3-9 this year, their second season in the Big Ten.

The 37-year-old Durkin served at Florida under Urban Meyer and Will Muschamp and coached the Gators in their 2014 Birmingham Bowl victory before moving to Michigan last season.
