WASHINGTON – For Washingtonians who commute using Metro, delays are a daily reality. The transit authority launched a new alert system called MetroAlerts Tuesday. The free service aims to let both Metro rail and bus riders plan ahead.
For the first time, bus commuters can receive alerts and advisories to help them plan a faster trip and avoid waiting at the bus stop.
Riders can sign up on to get text alerts or emails about route or schedule changes, detours and construction activity. Commuters can customize the information to the routes and stations they use most.
