Police investigate death near National Mall

WASHINGTON – D.C. police are investigating a shooting death in West Potomac Park – not too far from the Lincoln Memorial.

U.S. Park Police officers found the man around 8 a.m. near the intersection of 23rd Street and Ohio Drive after hearing reports of a shooting in the area.

U.S. Park Police have handed the investigation over to D.C. police. Police are not sure yet if the death is a homicide.

The investigation has closed Ohio Drive from the Tidal Basin to 23rd Street.
