UPPER MARLBORO, Md. – Lenny Harris might have lived if he hadn’t recognized one of the men robbing him, according to one of the three men arrested in his murder.
A homicide detective testified that Linwood Johnson, 49, told police the Alexandria activist had recognized one of the men during the robbery, which meant Harris had to be killed.
The judge ruled there is probable cause to hold Johnson, who arrived in court wearing dark-rimmed wraparound eyeglasses. He is being held without bond on first and second degree murder.
Harris, 53, disappeared in September. His body was found in a well in Fort Washington last month.
Court documents show Johnson told police Harris was killed in a robbery and other men were involved.
Tyrone Lewis, 26, and Ivan Newman, 20, also face charges.
