WASHINGTON – Avoiding potholes in D.C. is a losing battle but the District is fighting back.

The District Department of Transportation’s annual “Potholepalooza” campaign starts up Tuesday.

For the next month, residents can go , email potholepalooza@dc.gov, or call 311 to report a pothole.

DDOT says it will patch the holes within 48 hours compared to the normal 72-hour window.

DDOT started the program in 2009 and it’s been successful ever since.

“We’ve filled 19,000 potholes over the first three Potholepalooza campaigns,” says DDOT spokesperson John Lisle.
