Property taxes to rise in Arlington

WASHINGTON – Property taxes are on their way up for residents of Arlington.

The Arlington County Board voted Saturday to . It will mean the average homeowner will pay about $156 more in real estate taxes and water and sewer fees next year.

The adopted 2013 General Fund Budget, which includes schools funding, grew 4.7 percent over the 2012 Budget.

In the $1 billion budget the county board also approved a project that will make Crystal Drive a two-way street.

The chairwoman of the board says it will improve the safety of pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers on Crystal City’s main thoroughfare.

Other parts of the area are still working on how much residents will pay in property taxes. on its budget May 1st. Prince George’s County is set to adopt while Montgomery County and DC vote after that.
