A spring nor’easter packing soaking rain and high winds churned up the Northeast Monday morning, unleashing a burst of winter and up to a foot of snow in higher elevations inland, closing some schools and sparking concerns of power outages.
The Secret Service has confirmed that one of the 12 employees implicated in the scandal had stayed at a different hotel in Cartagena than the others. He stayed at the Hilton, where President Obama later would stay.
The Arlington County Board voted Saturday to raise property taxes by 1.3 percent. It will mean the average homeowner will pay about $156 more in real estate taxes and water and sewer fees next year.
Parking is hard to come by in D.C., especially free parking. On Monday, hundreds living and working near the National Cathedral will lose the privilege.
The average amount families will spend on prom this year is 34 percent higher than the year before, about $1,088, according to a recent survey by Visa. And that’s just the national average. When broken down by region, Northeast families, including those in the D.C. area, will spend a whopping $1,944 on prom, according to the study.
