Gas prices drop 9 cents, down 32 cents from a year ago

WASHINGTON – Once again, the price at the pump is down. The latest ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ Pain in the Gas Survey shows the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.53, down 9 cents from last week.

One year ago, gas was 32 cents more a gallon.

This week, mid-grade is down by 10 cents to $3.76 a gallon. Premium is down by 11 cents to $3.89. Diesel prices dropped most significantly – down 14 cents.

The average for regular fuel this week is cheapest in Virginia, where regular is down to $3.44. The average is $3.53 in Maryland. And in the District gas is $3.64.

On June 16, 2011, ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½’s gas survey showed a gallon of unleaded regular was $3.85.
