Zombies, and Kristi King, try new Apocalypse roller coaster

WASHINGTON – It’s nearly summer break for kids across the D.C. area and that means a trip to the theme parks might be in order for some families. There is a new roller coaster in town luring thrill seekers to Six Flags America.

is a scare riders can’t take sitting down. To celebrate the coaster’s debut, Six Flags America in Largo invited zombies to try it out.

For the pint-sized coaster enthusiasts, the be 54 inches tall.

Six Flags now hosts eight roller coasters. Riders get an amazing view while surviving the hairpin turns of the Apocalypse. Walking up to the coaster, riders are met with signs of “impending doom and mayhem,” according to the park which sets the scene with airplane wreckage, burned out vehicles and scorching special effects.

There is also a stand-up roller coaster at King’s Dominion. The height requirement for is more abstract. The company’s website says, riders “must be able to straddle seat with feet on floor.”

For those willing to travel for the roller rush, is a popular destination. , outside Harrisburg, boasts a coaster that goes 75 miles per hour. climbs 200 feet into the air.

And what goes up, must come down.
