WASHINGTON – Even as the debate continues as to who should pay for additional service hours during Nationals playoff games, Metro announced Sunday it is extending its hours Sunday and Monday evening for a Madonna concert at Verizon Center.
The additional hour of service will affect trains from Gallery Place and Judiciary Square.
When the concert lets out, concertgoers will have to board trains from either of those two stations.
All other Metro stations will close at regularly scheduled times, so customers will not be able to enter. They will be able to exit all stations during the additional service hour.
Last trains will begin departing Gallery Place at 12:55 a.m.
The extended service is being funded by an agreement with Verizon Center.
D.C. Councilmember Jack Evans has said he is involved in the debate between the Nationals and D.C.
“Here’s what I can assure you, the Metro system will stay open as late as we need it to get everyone home. That I can assure you,” Evans tells 草莓传媒.
