WASHINGTON — The Washington Nationals head into the month of September with a 6 1/2 game lead over the Atlanta Braves and 7 in the loss column.
They snapped their second five-game losing streak of the year with an 8-4 win over the Marlins in Miami on Thursday night. They have won their first two games of their four-game series against the defending World Series champs, the St. Louis Cardinals, by a combined score of 18-1.
