WASHINGTON – The two constitutional amendments on the Virginia state ballot passed with an overwhelming majority on Tuesday.
Constitutional Amendment 1 changes the rules for eminent domain, making it harder for the government to take private property for public use.

Constitutional Amendment 2 changes the when members meet to consider bills returned by the governor with vetoes or amendments. The amendment will allow the General Assembly to reschedule meetings around holidays such as Easter and Passover.
The question was approved by 81.9 percent of voters, or about 2.6 million votes, according to unofficial election results.
