WASHINGTON – With the end of Mexico’s Mayan calendar now here, many will check out NASA’s “” page all about Dec. 21, 2012.
While NASA assures the populace that it will be business as usual on Dec. 22, there are several concerts to help celebrate the “end of the world.”
Here are some of the highlights for this weekend:
Friday, Dec. 21
Roots-rock combo formed in the D.C. area, and has maintained a loyal local fan-base for more than 10 years. The band is scheduled to start its two-night run at in Arlington, Va.
Neo-folk band takes the stage at The Rock & Roll Hotel in the District. The group’s latest album is a well-polished venture, featuring songs that strike the perfect balance between catchy pop and Americana.
Upstairs at the Rock & Roll Hotel, there will be an “End of the World Dance Party” as well.
Local blues-rock band the Nighthawks is scheduled to perform at the Hamilton in the District.
For those looking for a refreshing holiday concert, look no further than in Vienna, Va. The all-woman songwriter supergroup, is scheduled to perform their updated arrangements of holiday classics.
Saturday, Dec. 22
Legendary rockabilly guitarist is scheduled to perform a holiday-themed concert at the in Alexandria, Va. The “Titan of the Telecaster” will perform some of his own holiday songs, as well as Christmas classics from the likes of Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley.
Local pop band is scheduled to put on a “Rock-A- Pocalypse” show at the in the District. Expect a high-energy performance that showcases the band’s love for everything from classic rock to soul.
