WASHINGTON – Residents and visitors will notice changes — lots of them — related to parking.
As the city grows, thousands of on-street parking spaces are being reserved for District residents, not visitors.
At the same time, on-street parking at parking meters is disappearing as more bicycle lanes are added.
The changes, which could affect as many as 10,000 spaces, are part of the city’s strategy to move toward a more bicycle- and mass transit-friendly environment.
Angelo Rao, manager of the District’s parking and streetlight program, tells the changes will affect as many as 20 parking spots per block.
The city will hold a from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Judiciary Square to get input from residents.
