Backstage: Classical concerts, events for kids

WASHINGTON – This weekend brings several classical music events, including kid’s concerts.

Scheduled for Friday at the , cellist and pianist perform their interpretations of pieces from Brahms, Bartok and Liszt.

Isserlis has performed all over the world with the likes of the Berlin Philharmonic, the Washington National Symphony and the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Gerstein has become a top name as a classical pianist, and is known for imaginative interpretations that take cues from his early interest in jazz.

Over the past two years, Gerstein has performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Seattle Symphony and nearly a dozen other symphonies across the U.S.

Scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, the is presenting performing Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony.

There will also be a pre-concert lecture before each performance.

The Kennedy Center is offering several classical programs over the weekend.
