WASHINGTON – Beyonce isn’t the only one who wants to give you an upgrade.
Nilou Motamed, features editor for recently offered NBC’s “TODAY” show viewers tips on how to receive free travel upgrades.
Motamed suggests checking into a hotel at a later time, since hotel employees are more likely to offer an upgrade if it looks like a better room will sit empty overnight. Staying at a new hotel also can be a bonus. New hotels are more likely to strive to impress customers.
When selecting a frequent flier program, Motamed says consider choosing an airline that isn’t headquartered in your city since there will be fewer elite passengers to compete with for an upgrade.
