Va. lawmaker: Study alternate currency for state

WASHINGTON – Prince William County Delegate Bob Marshall says Virginia should look at creating a separate currency for the commonwealth.

Marshall, a Republican, says the state needs to be ready if the U.S. dollar collapses.

He says that could happen if there is hyperinflation or another Great Depression.

He also says the Pentagon is preparing for how to deal with the possibility of “economic warfare attacks.”

Marshall has proposed a bill to study the creation of an alternate Virginia currency in gold and silver coins.

This is the third time Marshall has introduced such a bill.

Marshall tells he hasn’t thought of who would appear on the currency, but agreed with a Post reporter that it wouldn’t be the Dave Matthews Band.
