WASHINGTON – If you happen to be stranded in the Atlantic Ocean, keep your eyes peeled for a giant yellow soda bottle.
The world’s largest message-in-a-bottle reportedly was set free in the sea last month in a publicity project for the Norwegian soft drink Solo. The bottle weighs 2.5 tons and is around 26 feet long, and carries a case of Solo and a personal letter inside for any weary traveler who stumbles — or swims — across it.
The bottle also comes equipped with navigation lights, solar panels, satellite connection and tracking technology, along with a camera that will take and upload a picture every eight hours, according to a .
The soft drink company’s CEO says the stunt stemmed from not being able to decide who outside of Norway should get to taste “the best soda in the world.”
“We decided to leave it to the ocean currents,” Joakim Sande says.
