SUV crashes through Wendy’s

WASHINGTON – Five people were injured Friday night when an SUV crashed into a Wendy’s restaurant in Lanham.

The Prince George’s Fire Department says the SUV crashed into the restaurant at 9401 Annapolis Road about 9 p.m.

A photo tweeted by the fire department shows the vehicle crossed through the restaurant, stopping near the counter.

The five people were taken to area hospitals. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Price George’s police told the Associated Press that a patron and an employee of the restaurant were transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. It was unclear whether they were actually struck. A female employee was taken to the hospital later for anxiety.

Price George’s police said the driver of the SUV was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. His name was not released and it was not clear whether he was also taken to the hospital.
