WASHINGTON – There’s been a lot of hiring at the top for Prince George’s County Public Schools — but it’s not over yet.
The school system still needs a chief.
“We’ve been looking for a change for some time,” says Doris Reed, executive director of the union that represents principals and administrators in Prince George’s County schools.
County Executive Rushern Baker won a change in state law that gives him including the ability to hire the new schools CEO — formerly known as the superintendent.
Baker hopes to have that done by August 19, the first day of school.
Reed says she feels encouraged by to the Prince George’s County Board of Education, all of whom have some connection to education.
She says she’s also impressed with Segun Eubanks, the of the school board.
“I think he is really collaborative. He is going to bring a lot to the school system — look forward to working with him,” Reed says.
