WASHINGTON – Lanes reopen in both directions on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge after an earlier fire caused traffic to stop Sunday evening.
²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ has received reports that construction materials are burning underneath the bridge, sending a plume of smoke into the sky.
A Maryland Transportation Authority official said she had no information about what caused the fire or what was burning.
A fire engine put out the fire from above, and fire boats checked for falling debris on a barge below.
Fire crews have extinguished the fire. There are no reports of injuries.
