Howard University Homecoming among great local weekend entertainment

WASHINGTON – There’s a lot going on in the local music world this weekend.

is presenting several musical homecoming events, including performing tonight at the .

Another Howard Homecoming highlight — and at the Cramton Auditorium.

Howard University’s main event — their first-annual “Building the Bridge” party — takes place Saturday night at the .

Scheduled for 11 p.m. Saturday, the black-tie event will feature surprise performances and DJ sets from D-Nice, Biz Markie, and Chris Washington.

Howard alumni provide scholarships to students as part of the event as well.

Outside of the Homecoming Weekend festivities, there are even more notable concerts to check out.

Scheduled for Friday night at the , are scheduled to turn in a recently-added second performance. Their Thursday night concert quickly sold out.

Saturday night at , Justin Jones Band guitarist is scheduled to perform a set of his solo material.

Thompson’s songs appeal to modern blues and Americana fans. His confident and emotive guitar work is a real treat to see in person.

Scheduled for Sunday night at the , will draw the area’s funk fans. At 72 years old, the ever-eccentric Clinton can still work a crowd into a frenzy.
