WASHINGTON – Well-known D.C. radio veteran Sheila Stewart died in a car crash in Atlanta Thursday morning.

Chris Wegmann, regional vice president and general manager of Radio One, confirmed Stewart’s death to . He said Stewart was involved in an accident on the way to work Thursday.
At the time of her death, Stewart was working from Atlanta.
Stewart’s award-winning career spanned more than 20 years.
Stewart most recently had worked as the ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ and Community Affairs Director for a cluster of Radio One stations in the D.C. area.
Radio One’s D.C. affiliates include 93.3 WKYS, Praise 104.1, ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ Talk 1450, Majic 102.3 FM and Spirit 1340.
Stewart, who was a mother, was known for devoting her time to young people and charitable causes, including the Susan Komen Race For The Cure and the United Negro College Fund, according to on Twitter.
