New Year’s Eve Guide: Restaurants, music, parties, family fun

WASHINGTON – In no time at all, it will be time to say ‘so long’ to 2013, while ringing in the New Year with good friends and good cheer.

Whether you prefer a romantic dinner, a low-key evening, a kid-friendly celebration, or an all-out bash, there’s plenty to choose from.

Below is a list of some New Year’s Eve happenings in the D.C. area — from dinner specials, to live music, family-friendly events and the region’s biggest parties.

RESTAURANTS

Fall Church’s will celebrate the year from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. The New Year’s Eve party includes passed appetizers, a dinner buffet, a dessert buffet, a champagne toast and a live performance by the Tom Principato Band. Tickets are $75 a person.

Downtown Bethesda’s will transform into a 1920s speakeasy on New Year’s Eve, so be on the lookout for mobsters, flappers and gamblers. The restaurant will have a special menu for the evening, as well as music, game tables and a complimentary champagne toast. Tickets are $45 for the early birds and $78 with a reservation after 6:30 p.m.

Feeling fancy? Robert Wiedmaier’s French flagship will satisfy your craving for an elegant evening with its seven-course dinner. The first seating is sold old, but the 8 p.m. seating is still available. Come hungry; dinner, which will not disappoint, is $225 per person.

If splurging on a multi-course meal isn’t your style, , a new restaurant in town, is offering a traditional a la carte Piemotese menu for New Year’s Eve, with meats, cheeses, house-made pastas and Neapolitan pizzas priced from $5 to $19. Plus, the restaurant will supply guests with a complimentary glass of Prosecco at midnight.
