WASHINGTON – Annual homicide numbers from the D.C. metro area bring both encouraging and discouraging signs.
According to the , there were 103 killings in the District in 2013. That is a jump when compared to 2012, which saw a half-century low of 88.
Without the , which left 12 victims dead, D.C.’s total would have shown a slight uptick at 91.
Regardless, the numbers are down considerably from the 248 a decade ago and the 454 in 1993.
