WASHINGTON – Airlines are beginning to issue travel advisories for East Coast destinations, including the three airports in the D.C. region, ahead of Tuesday’s snow storm.
Delta, Virginia America and U.S. Airways are relaxing fees to change or cancel reservations for travelers flying to or from Dulles, Reagan National or Baltimore-Washington Tuesday.
“Because of the winter weather, if passengers have the ability to change their flight, airlines are not charging fees to do that. It’s important that passengers remain in contact with their airline to make those changes. And if their flight is cancelled, then they can rebook without any fees,” says Kimberly Gibbs, spokeswoman for Reagan and Dulles airports.
U.S. Airways flights to Richmond, Charlottesville, Roanoke and West Virginia are also affected. And change fees will be waived if travelers change their trip .
Delta announced that passengers are entitled to a refund for cancelled flights. But itinerary changes could cost travelers more. Delta has posted more details about the affected airports and the affected travel dates .
