WASHINGTON — Two unattended backpacks were found near the Boston Marathon finish line on Monday night, after a day of remembrance of the bombings at the same spot a year ago.
reports that the backpacks were found at about 8 p.m., and a man was in custody. They don’t know whether he was under arrest or being questioned.
One of the backpacks was detonated shortly before 9. The all-clear has been given.

that at least one of the bags was carried by a man identified as Kayvon Edson, who was wearing a long black veil and screaming “Boston Strong.” They say Edson told the police he had a rice cooker in his bag.
CBS ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ says that the rice cooker in the bag was full of confetti.
Edson has been charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and possession of a hoax device.
The other bag was destroyed at about 9:40. It contained photo equipment.
