Frontier announces cheap fares for Dulles passengers

WASHINGTON – Grab those credit cards, air travelers. There is a new low-fare carrier in town ready to whisk fliers away from Dulles International Airport.

Frontier Airlines announced Tuesday that it is joining the more than 30 carriers flying from Dulles and the company is offering deeply discounted plane tickets to sweeten the deal for passengers.

The steep discount doesn’t cover baggage fees, seat selection fees or other upgrades.

The company is known for offering a slew of other fees, including for carry-on luggage.

Beginning Wednesday, tickets for some flights will cost as little as $39 – a deal that will last through May 17.

Tickets must be purchased directly from the airline at .

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, which runs the airport, says the addition of Frontier represents a significant increase in the number of nonstop flights from Dulles.

The 20-year-old carrier serves 75 destinations in the U.S., Mexico, Costa Rica, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.
