Pregnant mom dies after stings; community supports family

WASHINGTON — A community is coming together to help the family of a pregnant mother of four children who died after receiving multiple stings by yellow jackets.

Initial reports said Sarah Harkins was stung by bees, but beekeepers believe she was actually stung by yellow jackets, reports.

Fredericksburg.com 32-year-old Sarah Harkins of Spotsylvania County was attacked by the yellow jackets, which are a type of wasp. Harkins collapsed at home and later died on July 28.

Doctors say the stress from the attack caused an undiagnosed brain aneurysm. Her unborn baby girl died as well.
