WASHINGTON — The Old Line State is earning a reputation as a wine state.
A list of the had quite a turn out from Maryland businesses. The list was compiled by OpenTable, a restaurant reservation website.
Maryland had eight restaurants on the list and ranked No. 4 when it came to states with the most businesses on the list.
Not surprisingly, America’s largest wine-producing state, California, had the most business on the list with 16. Ohio ranked No. 2 with 12 restaurants, followed by Illinois with nine.
“With wine consumption at an all-time high and fine dining growing ever more popular in the United States, it is only fitting that restaurants are being recognized by diners for their scrumptious food as well as their distinctive wine offerings,” Caroline Potter, OpenTable Chief Dining Officer, said in a . “This year’s winners are curating wine lists that educate and excite with selections that bring out the best in every bite.”
The list was generated from more than 5 million restaurant reviews collected from verified OpenTable diners between Oct. 1, 2013, and Sept. 30, 2014.
