The city’s high-end hotels have plenty of perks — not to mention transportation options — for guests, but a downtown hotel is now offering one of the world’s most exclusive vehicles as an amenity.
Starting this week, guests at the Hay-Adams Hotel can take complimentary chauffeured rides in a Tesla sedan, the new house car for the property. The Tesla will be available Monday to Friday from 7 to 10 a.m. and 5:30 to 8 p.m., so basically, guests can use the $90,000 car to sit in traffic.
The Tesla and accompanying charging station replace the previous house car at the Hay-Adams, a Mercedes. The move to Tesla is part of the hotel’s attempt to embrace more environmentally friendly practices, according to a press release.
Transportation and other amenities are common at D.C.’s high-end hotels, especially for guests staying as part of premium membership programs. Fairmont gold-level guests staying at the have access to a standby driver available through reservation.
Out at the Salamander Resort & Spa in Middleburg, there’s for all guests into downtown MIddleburg in the event that you’re not up for the half-mile walk. Salamander also offers the car service to all wineries within a five-mile radius of the resort.
Other hotel amenities aim to minimize the drama of dressing. At the Four Seasons in Georgetown, guests at the Royals Suite services included in their $18,500 per-night rate. Frequent travelers to the Royals Suite can also “Travel Lite,” where they leave belongings in the hotel to be cleaned and stored for the next time they return.

At the Capella Hotel in Georgetown, guests can employ the — for a fee — to have garments brought into the hotel from Neiman Marcus or Saks FIfth Avenue to choose from.
