WASHINGTON — Maryland voters approved a constitutional amendment on Tuesday to protect transportation money.
gives protection to money from the Transportation Trust Fund earmarked for lanes and roads, as well as for building projects such as the Purple Line. Money in the fund can only be used for transportation purposes unless the governor declares a fiscal emergency and 60 percent of the General Assembly agrees.
