WASHINGTON (AP)– Metro is teaming up with Giant grocery stores’ online shopping and delivery service, Peapod, to provide grocery pickup at three Metro stations.
The trial program will begin this spring and last for six months. Under an agreement with the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority, Peapod will bring an insulated locker to three Metro stations that will hold customers’ groceries.
Customers can order groceries online and pick them up on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. An attendant will provide shoppers with their orders, which customers will pre-pay for online. Customers who want to use the service will have to order $60 in groceries and pay a $2.95 fee.
The Metro stations involved in the pilot program are the Fort Totten, Glenmont, and Van Dorn Street stations.
