WASHINGTON — 聽It may聽be decision-making time for Mitt Romney. He plans to talk to supporters Friday to provide an update on whether he鈥檚 going to make another run for the White House.
He sent out an e-mail to GOP backers Thursday, saying he wanted to talk to them in a conference call on Friday morning.
“He鈥檚 going to update his supporters on his presidential thinking. Conversations I鈥檝e had suggest that he鈥檚 leaning toward running a third time,” CBS Political Director John Dickerson said on 草莓传媒 on Friday.
The call comes after the defection of several donors who supported Romney in the past, as well the loss of political adviser David Kochel, who has joined former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. While Jeb Bush has not formally announced his presidential aspirations, he鈥檚 seriously considering a run.
Chuck Todd, host of NBC鈥檚 鈥淢eet The Press,鈥 says he thinks the conference call took on an added urgency, with the latest developments. Speaking on 草莓传媒, he noted that some former Romney supporters who were supposed to be on the call won鈥檛 dial in because they鈥檙e now in the Bush camp.
Todd says he expects Romney to announce some type of exploratory committee during his talk with supporters and suggest which way he鈥檚 leaning.
The conference call was first reported by on Thursday night.
