That’s not quite how it works… Before the game even started, one woman weighed in with a hilarious observation about how the world聽experiences many major events, such as New Year鈥檚 Eve. Of course, we all know events with fixed times聽don鈥檛 work that way. Or, at least, .
Oh, Roger After a week full of two major distractions off the field, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell offered one final chance to cement his legacy of incompetence this season.
At least it’s official Commercials are as much a part of the Super Bowl as the game itself. But humorist Dave Barry has seen the line and believes we鈥檝e crossed it.
笔辞辞谤听顿别迟谤辞颈迟 At halftime, headliner Katy Perry entered atop a giant polygonic lion to perform her set. Sadly for Detroit fans, that was the only Lion present at the big game. The Lions are the only NFC team never to make the Super Bowl.
Sounds about right, Anna As the halftime show progressed, Perry was joined by dancing sharks and beach balls, evocative of a psychedelic cartoon. Many on Twitter noticed, but Anna Kendrick鈥檚 reaction summed it up most succinctly.
The More You Know As Perry鈥檚 performance finished, she was hoisted high above the field, with a lit star trailing behind her. Considering that NBC was carrying the game this year, it was hard not to think back to their famous 鈥淭he More You Know鈥� PSAs, as this Photoshop job illustrates.
Sorry, Nationwide At the most crucial moment of the game, with New England leading 28-24 and Seattle driving down to the one-yard line, the Seahawks elected to throw the ball instead of handing it to dominant running back Marshawn Lynch, resulting in the game-ending interception. Playing off the unusually dark Nationwide insurance ad earlier in the game, Twitter had a field day.
“Yeah.” There was more fodder to be found by using Lynch鈥檚 single-word reaction during a post-game interview earlier this year. It鈥檚 hard to think of a more simple, yet accurate way to express what every Seahawk fan must have been thinking at the time.
Monster wins the day The best brand tweet of the night belonged to job search agency Monster, which cleverly played off of every social media manager鈥檚 worst nightmare, in a way that only would have been possible in a close game decided in the final seconds.
On sports and religion Former Washington National and current Miami Marlins pitcher Dan Haren played off the trope of athletes thanking God after games, particularly that of the Seattle quarterback who made the final gaffe that lost the game.

WASHINGTON — The Super Bowl turned out to be a terrific game. A matchup of each conference鈥檚 top team, it had the makings of a classic matchup coming in, but that鈥檚 not always how these things turn out. And yet, it lived up to the billing, with the New England Patriots prevailing with an interception at the goal line in the final minute to win, 28-24.

One thing that was never in question — Twitter would be at its peak during the big game. With most eyes in America trained to one event, there was guaranteed to be a comprehensive input from across all walks of American life weighing in on all the action on the field, the commercials and the halftime show.
