WASHINGTON — With a little more than a year left in his tenure, it seems President Obama is opening up a little. He , and even engaged in a playful back-and-forth with former president Bill Clinton about rights to the @POTUS name.
On Monday, Obama launched his Facebook page by walking through the backyard of the White House, the place he鈥檚 called home for the past seven years. In a video posted to the page, the president said more needs to be done to address climate change, so his children and future generations can enjoy lush parks — like his backyard — for years to come.
鈥淣ot only do I want future presidents to be able to take walks like this,鈥 Obama said. 鈥淚 want to make sure that the American people are able to enjoy the incredible national parks — the incredible beauty, the mountains, the oceans — that have been one of the greatest gifts that we鈥檝e ever received.鈥
Obama said he鈥檚 going to Paris in December to meet with world leaders and create an international framework that addresses climate change.
鈥淲e鈥檙e gonna need you to help us on this,鈥 the president concluded. 鈥淵ou鈥檝e got to get engaged about why climate change is so important. Because if all of America is joining around this critical project, then we can have confidence that we鈥檙e doing right by future generations.鈥
