CLINTON, Md. 鈥 A 23-year-old man was shot through the window of his basement bedroom and killed Thursday night.
Prince George鈥檚 County detectives said that Kevin Washington Jr.’s death was not a random killing, and that someone had it out for him.
But Friday as a group of friends mourned outside the home he lived in on Alan Drive in Clinton, not everyone could understand why.
鈥淗e was a good person,鈥 said a friend named William. 鈥淗e never caused problems, nothing. You could talk to him 鈥 you could talk to him about anything.鈥
He and Washington had been out together earlier this week.
鈥淚 was going to come over after the game,鈥 he said. 鈥淎nd then this happened.”
Washington lived in a house owned by his aunt, on a street where some residents have lived for several decades. A middle school sits behind the home.
Washington鈥檚 father was at the scene early Friday morning and made a plea to his son’s killer through NBC Washington.
鈥淛ust turn yourself in,鈥 said Kevin Washington Sr. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 all I want him to do. Because I鈥檓 losing my son. My only son.鈥
Police have not publicly identified a motive or a suspect in the case.
