WASHINGTON — Two men are dead after a shooting in Suitland, Maryland, Sunday night, Prince George’s County police say.
Police said they responded to a report of a shooting around 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the 4600 block of Silver Hill Road. Police said 22-year-old Courtney Simms of Temple Hills, Maryland, and 23-year-old Anthony Douglas, of Marlow Heights, Maryland, were both suffering from gunshot wounds when police arrived.
Simms was pronounced dead at the scene and Douglas was taken to a hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead a short time later.
Earlier, police had said one of the victims one of the victims went into a Popeyes restaurant after he was shot. The shooting took place in a nearby alley where the other victim was found.
“We’re not exactly sure if this was them shooting toward each other, whether they was a third or even more parties involved that’s something we’re actively trying to establish,” Prince George’s County Police Cpl. Tyler Hunter said.
Detectives are working to figure out a motive and to track down a possible suspect or suspects.
