WASHINGTON 鈥 The Prince George’s County school board has named Dr. Monica Goldson as the acting schools CEO.
Goldson was named to the post after the severance package for outgoing CEO Dr. Kevin Maxwell was voted on by the board at a contentious Thursday night meeting.
That meeting ended with an allegation of assault as school board member Edward Burroughs alleged that school board Chair Dr. Segun Eubanks called him into a backroom for a meeting and then threatened Burroughs, saying, 鈥淚 will f*** you up!鈥
Burroughs filed charges, asking for a stay-away order directed at Eubanks.
Burroughs, who was a vocal critic of Maxwell’s for years, said Goldson appears to be a “solid” choice as an acting CEO.
“She has managed to stay out of the fray and, in a lot of cases, clean up messes in other departments that don鈥檛 even fall under her,鈥 Burroughs said.
Burroughs also called for Eubanks to step down.
鈥淲e cannot continue on the pathway that we鈥檙e going,鈥 he said, adding, 鈥淚t鈥檚 important that we unify and that we get back to the business of educating our students and rebuilding confidence in our workforce.”
Burroughs said the board needs to rally around Goldson. 鈥淲e need her to be very successful and we have to help her do that.鈥
