2 Ford recalls cover 55,000 vehicles

WASHINGTON — Ford has issued two separate safety recalls on Wednesday, covering about 55,000 vehicles in North America, for potential safety problems with seats and seat belts.

Ford recalled 51,500 2015-2016 Ford Transit wagons built at the Kansas City plant between Feb. 13, 2014, and Jan. 13, 2016. The rear-seat belt buckles can be damaged when heavy objects are put on top of them, , and that can lead to the belt failing to latch completely.

Ford also recalled about 3,700 F-150 trucks built in Dearborn, Michigan, between April 27 and Nov. 22, 2015. If the massage function of the multi-contour front passenger is turned on while an adult is in it, the Detroit ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ says, the system may think a child is in it, which would turn off the front passenger air bag.

Dealers will replace the relevant parts free of charge.
