WASHINGTON 鈥斅燨n the first couple days during the second surge聽of Metro鈥檚 maintenance plan, the pedestrian plaza at one affected station began filling with cars, and it has upset some riders.
The station was Eastern Market station which marks the point where train service on three lines stop into Maryland so necessary track work can be completed.
On Twitter, pictures began showing up, showing much of brick-laden plaza covered with parked vehicles. Some of the posters claimed the cars belonged to Metro employees.
Metro spokesperson Morgan Dye told 草莓传媒 that Metro contractors and employees were among those caught leaving their cars in the plaza.
The problem has been addressed, according to Dye, and Metro Transit police will issue citations to any vehicle that illegally parks on the plaza.
