WASHINGTON 鈥� It may have seemed mysterious at first: William Shatner, of 鈥淪tar Trek鈥� fame, earlier this month tweeted a request for fans to take a photo of themselves doing the Mr. Spock 鈥淟ive Long and Prosper鈥� hand sign and email it to a specific address.

It turns out there was a method to his madness, Entertainment Weekly reports: Shatner was taking part in 鈥� the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen, a brainchild of Misha Collins, one of the stars of The CW show 鈥淪upernatural.鈥� We still don鈥檛 know exactly how the challenge was worded, because the contest, which raises money for various charities including Random Acts, won鈥檛 be announced for another week, but Shatner tweeted the beautiful result:
