‘SNL’ takes aim at New Hampshire primary in opening skit

NEW YORK (AP) 鈥 鈥淪aturday Night Live鈥 cast aside the impeachment vote for a cold open with the Democratic primary debate in New Hampshire.

Former cast members Jason Sudeikis and Rachel Dratch returned Saturday to play Joe Biden and Amy Klobuchar in the NBC comedy. But the debate front-runner was Larry David’s portrayal of Bernie Sanders.

He mocked the computer problems that made a mess of the Iowa caucus results.

鈥淚 have an idea for an app,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t’s called 鈥榥o app.鈥 No app, no computers, no gadgets, no gizmos. You show up at your polling place, take a number like you do at the butcher, they call your number, you go up to the guy and say, 鈥楪ive me a pound of whatever鈥檚 about to go bad.’ 鈥

Later, David’s Sanders said he didn’t know how it happened that he wound up king of an army of Internet trolls called 鈥淏ernie bros.鈥

鈥淐an I stop them in their tracks?鈥 he said. 鈥淥f course. Should I? Yes. Will I? Eh.鈥

Colin Jost played Pete Buttigieg as the 鈥渨hite Obama鈥 and when asked who won in Iowa, said 鈥淒onald Trump.鈥

Sudeikis poked fun at Biden’s age when told he had 60 seconds to give a final statement.

鈥淭he doctor said I had six to eight months,鈥 he said.
