WASHINGTON — An 8-year-old victim’s testimony against his summer camp counselor led to the man’s  conviction of sexual abuse in Fauquier County, Va., on Thursday.
Michael Sanders-Price Jr. of Laurel, Maryland was found guilty of aggravated sexual battery and indecent liberties by a person in a custodial relationship with the victim.
The says the child’s testimony was critical because without it, the charges would have been dismissed, reports .
The abuse happened in July 2015 at Camp Moss Hollow in Markham, Virginia, which is in Fauquier County. The camp is operated by , a non-profit that offers summer camp to underprivileged children. The 8-year-old victim resides in the District of Columbia.
The jury recommended a prison sentence of six years. Formal sentencing for Sanders-Price is set for July 25.
